Revealed! January 7

Then you shall be radiant at what you see, your heart shall throb and overflow, for the riches of the sea shall be emptied out before you, the wealth of nations shall be brought to you. Isaiah 60:5

“Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star at its rising and have come to do him homage.” Matthew 2:2

Piety

Let us pray: Lord Jesus, I have so far to go in order to do justice to the relationship you want to open with me. Open my eyes and ears to your calling; put your message upon my lips, in my mind and in my heart. Lead me where you want me to walk. Let you light draw me in so I can walk in your radiant light. Amen.

To have an “epiphany” means to have a usually sudden realization or come to a comprehension of the essence or meaning of something. Like seeing a Palestinian baby in a barn with a teenage mother and realizing that this is the new born king of the Jews.

The three kings in today’s Gospel traveled a great distance at considerable cost to offer their richest gifts to the Infant Jesus. When they arrived, do you think they realized who lay before them or did Jesus first shine his light upon them in order to make them see and believe?

Action

During these early weeks of a new year, many people look for a fresh start…on a diet, getting organized, exercising more, spending less money, spending more time with family or all of the above.

Have you thought about a resolution pertaining to how far you will go and what you will offer to do homage to this newborn King and Savior?
