Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. John 16:15
By Rev. Joe Mc Closkey, S.J.
(Psalm 8) O LORD, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth! You have set your majesty above the heavens! When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars that you set in place – What are humans that you are mindful of us, mere mortals that you care for us? Yet you have made us little less than a god, crowned us with glory and honor. You have given us rule over the works of your hands, put all things at our feet: All your gifts – our food, companions, our very world and all living creatures! O LORD, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth! Amen.

June brings the young home from school. It opens up the floodgates of vacation preparation. It offers family time beyond imagining. It is the time we celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The promises of Christ are many. But the biggest is his willingness to intercede for us with the Father. It is the time we can pray for the Cursillo and its future. It offers us the challenge of reaching out to our friends and to say to them we want to share Christ with you. Bringing our friends to Christ before we ask them to go on a Cursillo is important. Sharing Christ with them every chance we have by sharing our moments closest to Christ is the way to go. Telling our friends what we most appreciate about their goodness opens them to share their Christ with us. Jesus tells us where his heart is honored their will be a flowering of virtue. He will take the tepid and make them fervent. He will raise up the fervent to a greater closeness with himself. The sky is the limit as to where we can go with the help of Christ. Palanca is not just something we do for the Cursillo weekend. It is what we offer up to catch the eye of Christ for what we are working on in his name. It does not have to be hard things we offer. Take the time to be with friends. Talk to a friend that seems distant. Break out of a comfort zone to do good for those who need help.
Make holy the way of the Lord in your family's life. Open your doors to your neighbors. Take the time to invite them to a cookout. Widen your horizons and see the workings of the Spirit around you. Let your virtues blossom like the summer rose. Remember “the rose is the splendid agony of the thorn tree.” There is no better time than now to take the extra step in the name of Christ. Invite a friend to your group reunion. Take the time to be with the Christ of each other. Remember it only takes a moment to love a lifetime's worth.
