Observe It
October 13, 2012
Saturday
of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time
For through faith you
are all children of God in Christ Jesus.
For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves
with Christ. There is neither Jew nor
Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for
you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:26-28
While Jesus was
speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, "Blessed is
the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed." He replied, "Rather, blessed are those who
hear the word of God and observe it."
Luke 11:27-28
Piety
“Do not model yourselves on the behavior of the world around
you, but let your behavior change, modeled by your new wisdom.” (Romans 12:2-3)
*This is the theme of
the Men's 125th Cursillo Weekend occurring now.
Study
Luke reminds us today why there are three legs to the Tripod. Each leg is important. However, unless all work together, we will
not have the stability to witness to the Good News that our faith requires.
It is not enough to be close to Jesus in our piety. Nor is it our mission to be students only of
the word of God in our study. It is not
sufficient if we act without a foundation in piety and study. As the candidates of this latest Cursillo
learn more about these practices and how to build them into their lives,
reflect on how they are in your life as well.
This then may be considered the ninth beatitude: "Blessed are those who hear the word of
God and observe it."
Action
The men of the 125th Cursillo are gathered in the San
Damiano Retreat House this weekend.
Please support their efforts with your prayer, palanca and
presence. http://www.arlingtoncursillo.org/124th-mens-cursillo-2/125th-mens-weekend-candidates/
