In
past generations he allowed all Gentiles to go their own ways; yet, in
bestowing his goodness, he did not leave himself without witness, for he gave
you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, and filled you with nourishment and
gladness for your hearts.”
Acts 14:16-17
“Whoever
has my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me. Whoever loves me
will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him.” John 14:21
Piety
What can be sweeter to us, dear ones,
than this voice of the Lord inviting us?
Behold, in His loving kindness
the Lord shows us the way of life. Rule of St. Benedict, Prologue for May 4

Study
Accept the invitation. The Gentiles accepted
the invitation to walk with the Lord. In
the Gospel, Jesus invites his disciples to observe the commandments and they
will receive love in return.
Think of the alternative. Jesus is inviting us to seek peace and pursue
it through him. The alternative is to
seek peace in the world. How is that
working?
Action
In Sunday homily yesterday at Queen of
Apostles Church in Belmont, NC, the pastor told his congregation yesterday
about a display at the headquarters of the International Red Cross regarding
the timeline of wars. There is a similar
web page on the subject Timelines
of War here. What it reveals is a
world that experiences nearly constant war throughout history.
The Resurrected Christ offers us his peace,
not the peace of the world. He can even do so behind doors that are locked,
hearts that are locked, and minds that are locked.
Open the door of your heart to the voice of
the Lord inviting you to accept his peace.
