Come Away with Me and Rest for a While

Come Away with Me and Rest for a While

O LORD, my God, you have made me, your servant, king to succeed my father David; but I am a mere youth, not knowing at all how to act. I serve you in the midst of the people whom you have chosen, a people so vast that it cannot be numbered or counted. Give your servant, therefore, an understanding heart to judge your people and to distinguish right from wrong. For who is able to govern this vast people of yours?"1 Kings 3:7-9

The Apostles gathered together with Jesus and reported all they had done and taught. He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” People were coming and going in great numbers, and they had no opportunity even to eat. So they went off in the boat by themselves to a deserted place. Mark 6:30-32

Piety
Theme for M136 Weekend, March 1-4
Study
Jesus seems to know just what we need and is willing to give it to us. After weeks or months out on their mission to teach, to heal and to forgive sins, the Apostles gathered back with Jesus to deliver a trip summary, a de-briefing, an after-action report.  Jesus rewarded them with a short vacation or retreat.  “Come away with me and rest for a while.”

Jesus knew that the chosen ones would have to re-charge their batteries.  In lieu of a Five-Hour Energy drink, Jesus knew that a little rest was just what the doctor (Savior) ordered.

Action
How do you recharge your batteries?  Do you know someone who is in need of a jolt?  We are just three weeks away from the next Men’s Cursillo.  The M136 team completed its Talk Day last Saturday.  Now is a prime time for you to invite someone you know to participate in the weekend.  That weekend will take place March 1-4 at San Damiano

While you think about your male friends, Henri Johnson and the women’s team will begin formation meetings on Sunday.  The W151 will take place from April 12-15 at San Damiano as well.

Who do you know who needs to come away with Jesus and rest for a while? (Well, at least as much rest as one can get on a Cursillo weekend...)
