After You Have Suffered a Little

After You Have Suffered a Little

April 25, 2013
Feast of Saint Mark, Evangelist

Be sober and vigilant.  Your opponent the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, steadfast in faith, knowing that your brothers and sisters throughout the world undergo the same sufferings.  The God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory through Christ Jesus will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you after you have suffered a little.  1 Peter 5:8-10
“Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.  Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.  These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages.  They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them.  They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”  Mark 16:15-18

Piety

Father, we a freshly minted set of Cursillistas from the Women’s 136th and the Men’s 126th Weekends, you have delivered two commands that help us to illuminate the Fourth Day.  Protect us from the forces of evil that seek to derail our daily practices of piety, study and action.  Give us the gifts to go into the world and proclaim your Good News – sometimes using words. Amen.

Study

We often hunt around for words to describe the concepts in Cursillo.  However, to get the point across, we need look no further than our own Bible study and Daily Mass celebration.  The words penned by St. Mark are perfect guides to the Fourth Day.  Forces of evil and distraction surround us like the devouring lion trying to get us off course.  However, with the strength provided by our friends in Group Reunion, we can right ourselves on the path of peace and friendship with Jesus.

Action

Invite one of the new Cursillistas to join your group reunion.  Look up the candidates from the recent weekends on www.arlingtoncursillo.org website
