One Will Be Taken, The Other Left

One Will Be Taken, The Other Left

I rejoiced greatly to find some of your children walking in the truth just as we were commanded by the Father. But now, Lady, I ask you, not as though I were writing a new commandment but the one we have had from the beginning: let us love one another. For this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; this is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, in which you should walk.  2 John 4-6

“Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it. I tell you, on that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken, the other left. And there will be two women grinding meal together; one will be taken, the other left."  Luke 17:33-35

Piety
Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord!

Study
Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord!  Indeed.  Johns second letter reinforced the themes of love and truth as advice on Christian living.  Cursillistas recognize these as action (love) and study (truth).  John encourages community members to obedience to the commandments of faith and love (and through such actions, they will follow all others).

These standards for living prepare us for that time Luke tells us about.  The warning that is rooted in Noah and Lot intend to prepare the faithful for “the day the Son of Man is revealed.”

Action
“If you walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed. If you stand before the power of hell and death is at your side, know that I am with you through it all.”  (“Be Not Afraid” by John Michael Talbot)

People in California may be feeling like these stories told by Luke.  Houses are being destroyed.  People are losing their lives.  Three devastating wildfires--the Camp, Woolsey, and Hill fires--are burning out of control in California. Firefighters are working around the clock to control the blazes and keep them from spreading into even more communities. More than 250,000 across the state have been forced to flee their homes. Governor Jerry Brown has declared the fires a major disaster and is requesting federal emergency funds to aid families and communities affected by the fires.

The following highly-rated organizations have received 3- and 4-stars from Charity Navigator and are confirmed to be working to provide relief to the individuals and communities affected by these devastating fires in Southern and Northern California. Donors can designate their donations to the cause on the organizations’ websites respectively.  The links below will take you to the Charity Navigator report on each of these organizations.
