No longer will your Teacher hide himself, but with your own eyes you shall see your Teacher, While from behind, a voice shall sound in your ears: “This is the way; walk in it,” when you would turn to the right or to the left. Isaiah 30:20-21
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvestto send out laborers for his harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38
Piety
Master, show us the way so that we may walk in it. Send out laborers for the harvest. Don’t let me sit back and rely on someone else to respond. Send me. Amen.

Jesus is not asking us to do anything He did not do. Our familiar Cursillo tripod also formed the basis for commissioning the apostles – the ones sent out to spread the Good News. Matthew teaches us that Jesus spent his time proclaiming the Word of God, teaching in the synagogue and healing those in need. When the apostles were commissioned to do the same, Jesus was in essence asking them to engage in the Daily Tripod.

Jesus wants us to grow in friendship with Him. No longer will He hide himself from us. Or as it says in Corinthians, “Then, we shall see face-to-face.”
When we meet Jesus as a friend, He will tell us, “This is the way. Walk in it.” Do what I do. Walk the Walk.
This is not the popular way. The popular way is to wait on line at the Mall for Playstation 3 or Nintendo Wii. The popular way is the way that will find you sitting in traffic jams at Tysons Corner or Pentagon City buying stuff for the holidays.
No…the harvest is abundant but the laborers are few. Will you be one of the laborers in the field of the Lord? Will you ask the master to send out laborers for the harvest? Will you ask the Master to send…you?

Day 7: Dec. 9 - 7. Practice the 5-R's - reduce, reuse, recycle, restore, respond. Practice the "Halving Principle," cut use of stuff in half. Use water, electricity and fossil fuels wisely and conservatively. For example, use compact fluorescent light bulbs. They require only 25% of the energy that incandescent bulbs do.
